#1 Steelcase Series 1 Ergonomic Mesh Chair Task Chair

Steelcase’s entry level office chair, the Series 1 combines comfort, looks, and ergo-friendly features that are not typically found in chairs in this price range, make it a strong value proposition.

The chair is compact and simple, which is amazing considering the number of intuitive adjustment controls that are built into it. The Series 1 has a breathable mesh backing (called 3D Micro Knit), which is both flexible and supportive. Then comes the laundry list of adjustments: arm height, lumbar height, seat depth, tilt control and – obviously —seat height. The Series 1’s main feature is its 4D adjustable arms. The Series 1’s adjustable arms allow users to adjust the arm height, as with most office chairs. Steelcase goes many steps further by making the arm cap – the soft, supportive arm rest — mobile, too. It can pivot around 40 degrees, slide side-to-side, forward and backward. Its compact design means it is not suitable for larger sitters. Steelcase hopes to be able to make a slightly larger version.

#2 Flash Furniture High-Back Mesh Chair

This mesh-bodied, high-back chair from Flash Furniture is the best and most versatile chair we’ve found in this price range. It has an adjustable headrest (ideal for those who like to lean back), holds more weight than most dirt cheap options, has a tilt tension adjustment knob, offers firm lumbar support and isn’t absolutely atrocious to look at. If it’s missing anything (other than quality materials that would drive the price up), it’s adjustable armrests, but that’s the lowest number of serious compromises you’ll find out of seating in this price category.

#3 Herman Miller Aeron Ergonomic chair

We have the Aeron, a Herman Miller ergonomic office chair that is arguably the best on the market. Herman Miller is an expert in office equipment. Many of their chairs made it to our top 10. This particular chair has been a huge crowd pleaser.

The Aeron is extremely responsive and adaptable to each person. It reacts as if it’s intuitively forming to your body. To encourage natural back shape, the frame is slightly shifted forward. With its steep tapering, the front end design allows for maximum comfort for your legs.

The chair’s various aspects can be adjusted using simple controls. It can accommodate a wide range of body movements thanks to its versatility. The Aeron can also be reclined with a smooth-running pitch tilt. Whether you’re immersed in your work or taking a break to chill, the Aeron delivers a comfortable seating experience.

The mesh material of the chair provides good airflow to keep you fresh while working. While many people don’t like its look, it is functional. Both the backrest as well as the seat are made of mesh, which is different from other mesh.

It’s not the cheapest option, but it’s got a 12-year warranty. If you spread the cost over 12 years, it’s worth it, and it’s an investment in your health.

#4 Steelcase Gesture Chair

Steelcase would be at the top of the Mount Rushmore for office chair design. And the Gesture would be its carving. It is well-designed with all the essential ergonomic features. The synchronous tilt system lifts the seat slightly when you recline to keep your feet on ground. This allows blood to circulate freely. Materials are also considered. Consider the seat shell. Most of the chair’s shell doesn’t touch sitters and is made from hard plastic. However, the seat shell has some give. This allows it to bend and move to your preferences. On top of this, it’s customizable — there are dozens of fabrics, colors and materials to choose from.

#5 SeatingPlus Ergonomic Executive chair

If you’re looking for a more affordable option, consider the SeatingPlus Ergonomic Executive Chair. The seat is made up of individual coils and thick memory foam, which provide a comfortable sitting experience. The armrests can be flipped up and down to make them more comfortable. The ergonomic backrest can also be adjusted using the pneumatic controls. It can be adjusted from 90° to 130°. You can also adjust the seat by 3.15inches to raise or lower it. The chair can also swivel 360 degrees.

The chair is made of soft, breathable PU leather with white stitching around the edges, and since it’s an executive chair, it has a high, wide back, and an extra-wide seat.  The chair supports a maximum weight of 330 pounds and has a steel base. It’s available in Black, Brown, and White.

#6 Vari Ergonomic Task chair with Headrest

The Vari Task Chair With Headrest is a mid-range-priced option for those looking for a good headrest. It’s ergonomically designed to maintain proper alignment and reduce muscle strain. The adjustable headrest allows you to comfortably cradle and support your neck and head. The chair features a mesh back reinforced for breathability. This will keep you cool. The pivoting backrest offers maximum lumbar support.

The adjustable settings allow you to adjust the chair back, height (from 17 5/8 to 22 inches) and armrests. The tilt and tension settings can be adjusted on the seat back. The chair is durable and can support 300 pounds. This chair is easy to assemble straight out of the box and requires no tools.
